Marvel’s Runaways Season 2: Hulu Renewal Status and Release Date
Marvel has just released their first brand new Hulu Original Runaways based on the superhero comic of the same name. But will we be seeing a second season in the works? Below, we’re taking a look at everything we currently know about the official renewal status of Marvel’s Runaways.
The comic first released back in July of 2003 and was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona. By its eighteenth issue, the series was cancelled by Marvel but revived again in 2005 due to the high demand from fans. The series follows a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are members of an evil cult organization often referred to as “The Pride”.
Back in 2008, Marvel began production of a film adaptation of Runaways which unfortunately never came to fruition as the project was scrapped in 2013 following the outstanding success of The Avengers. In August of 2016, Hulu requested a pilot order from Hulu and filming started back in February of 2017.
Season 2 Hulu Renewal Status
Official Renewal Status: Not Yet Renewed (Last updated: 11/21/2017)
At this current time, we have received no confirmation on a second season of this Hulu original. The source material differently leaves room for this series to grow, especially regarding the way the first season ended.
Hulu’s longest running Drama show is East Los High which first debued back in June of 2013. Since then, 3 more seasons have been released, with the last episode to premiere on December 1st of this year. We think it’s very unlikely that the series will be cancelled due to the positive reception, and we might even be in for another 2-3 season at least.
When will Season 2 be on Netflix?
Even though the series is yet to be renewed, that doesn’t stop us discussing when the second season would be arriving. Regarding how long the first season took to be released we can estimate that if the show gets renewed and production starts it’ll be around October/November 2018, if not, sooner. We know from other series that Hulu like keeping releases reasonably anual.
Sets, costumes and other assets will also already be built, so production time should be shorter for season 2.
