5. The Pink Panther Series (1964-2006)
Our first pick for October isn’t just one title, but a staggering eight. The comedy franchise known primarily as The Pink Panther started all the way back in 1964 with the late, great Peter Sellers at the helm. The films follow Inspector Clouseau, a bumbling detective who claims to be an expert of The Phantom, a notorious jewel thief. Hulu is welcoming eight of the Pink Panther films, spanning from the original in 1964, to the re-boot in 2006 which starred Steve Martin.
4. Spectre (2015)
Daniel Craig’s 4th appearance as James Bond was in the 2015 film Spectre. The Oscar-winning film was a culmination of all of Craig’s Bond movies into one villain, the mysterious organization known as SPECTRE. Cryptic messages lead Bond on a rogue mission in Mexico City, where he discovers the existence of the secretive SPECTRE, lead by Blofeld (Christoph Waltz). The further Bond digs, the more terrible secrets he uncovers, especially ones that seem to link directly to his life.
3. Carrie (1976)
Stephen King seems to be getting a lot of attention at the moment, especially following the recent adaptation of ‘It’, which is currently the highest grossing Horror film of all time, even pushing past the Exorcist. But you can’t forget that even back in 1976 King’s books were being adapted into great films. Carrie was one of these movies. The film followed the shy, lonely teenage girl, Carrie White. Who after being humiliated at prom, unleashes her true telekinetic powers, in devastating effect. Carrie is regarded as a classic original horror film, that will be available to stream on Hulu on the 1st of October.
2. Groundhog Day (1993)
Staring the brilliant Bill Murry, the 1993 film Groundhog Day follows the unfortunate circumstances of Phil, a weatherman who finds himself living the same day over and over again. The film won 1 BAFTA film award and spawned numerous films that have attempted to copy the ingenious concept. No matter how many films adopt this technique, none of them quite perfect it as well as Groundhog Day. If you’ve never given this a watch, then after the 1st of October, you won’t have an excuse to not enjoy this film.
1. Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2 (2003-4)
October will also bring Volume 1 & 2 of Quentin Tarantino’s Action, Crime, Thriller Kill Bill. The first film originally came out in 2003, quickly developing a cult following. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, who wakes up from a four-year coma intending to exact brutal revenge on the team of assassins who betrayed and left her for dead; and of course her former lover and boss Bill. Both part 1 and 2 were received extremely well and many fans will be glad to see these gruesome and epic films coming to Hulu next month.
